Of all the liars in the world,
sometimes the worst are you own fears.

Where there is an open mind
there will always be a frontier.
-Charles F. Kettering
The difference between a successful person
and others is not a lack of strength,
not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack of will.
-Vincent Lombardi
The major reason for setting a goal is
for what it makes of you to accomplish it.
What it makes of you will always be
the far greater value than what you get.

Excellence is doing ordinary things extraordinarily well.

Christmas gift suggestions:
To your enemy, forgiveness.
To an opponent, tolerance.
To a friend, your heart.
To a customer, service.
To all, charity.
To every child, a good example.
To yourself, respect.
Life is 10 percent what you make it,
and 90 percent how you take it.
-Irving Berlin
Footprints in the sands of time
are never made by sitting down.
Ordinary people believe only in the possible.
Extraordinary people visualize not what is
possible or probable, but rather what is impossible.
And by visualizing the impossible,
they begin to see it as possible.

NOW IS THE TIME
Draw on your own energy ... live out your passion.
Transform a moment into an event. Play music, paint,
or write. Explore the unknown. Share ideas.
Be passionate about an issue ... a person. Exercise
your body; cross the finish line like there's no tomorrow.
And be mindful of yourself and the world around you.
If you don't make a total commitment to whatever
you're doing, then you start looking to bail out the
first time the boat starts leaking. It's tough enough
getting that boat to shore with everybody rowing,
let alone when a guy stands up and starts putting
his jacket on.
-Lou Holtz
The most important

say to yourself:
Yes I can!
-Denis Waitley
A talented trumpeter who toots his own horn
winds up playing to an empty theatre.
A talented trumpeter who lets others
recognize his talent winds up a legend.

The three most important questions
all winners ask themselves:
1. What do I want?
2. How am I going to get it?
3. When am I going to do something about it?
The world is not interested in the storms you encountered,
but did you bring the ship in?
Getting an idea should be like sitting down on a pin;
it should make you jump up and do something.
Things turn out the best for the people who make
the best of the way things turn out.
If you don't like something, change it.
If you can't change it, change your attitude.
-Maya Angelou
Be kind to unkind people - they need it the most.
Gift of courageEmerson wrote: "What a new face courage puts on everything!"
And no truer statement was ever written. Whatever it appears, courage changes things for the better ... It's the courage to do what need to be done, when it should be done ... And it's the courage to follow the silent voice within you when it means going against the crowd, or speaking when you know what you're going to say will be unpopular with your listeners. It's the courage to stay with something long enough to succeed at it, realizing that it usually takes two, three or four times as long to succeed as you thought or hoped.
-Earl Nightingale
A positive attitude removes the rust from the mind,
lubricates our inward machinery, and enables us to do
our work with fewer creaks and groans.
Six ways to bury new ideas1. We have never done it that way before
2. It won't work in our department
3. We've done fine without it
4. It's too complicated
5. They tried that before
6. Nobody else does it that way
Never fear shadows.They simply mean
there's a light shining somewhere nearby.

A little common sense,
a little tolerance,
a little good humor,
and you don't know
how comfortable you can make
yourself on this planet.
-Somerset Maugham
Just don't give up trying to
do what you really want to do.
Where there is love and
inspiration, I don't think
you can go wrong.

FIRST THINGS FIRST
I recently had a conversation with a young woman who was in her firs year of teaching high school Spanish. She told me an interesting story about how she got the job. Months after she was hired the principal told her "the story behind the story".
She was one of two finalists. The other candidate had five years' experience in another school system. The principal said that the decision to hire her came down to just one question. They were both asked, "Why do you want to teach here?"
The other teacher said, "Because I love to teach Spanish."
She got the job because she answered, "Because I love to teach kids."
There are two types of people who will tell you
that you cannot make a difference in this world:
Those who are afraid to try themselves,
and those who are afraid that you will succeed.
-Ray Goforth
Don't fear failure so much that you refuse to try new things.
The saddest summary of a life contains three descriptions:
could have, might have, and should have.
